UNDATED (WHTC-AM/FM, Aug. 19, 2025) – Summer vacation officially ends for two private school entities on Tuesday.
It’s the first day of classes for Holland Christian schools, as well as Borculo Christian school, as a staggered start to Academic 2026 will be seen along the Lakeshore over the next eight days. On Wednesday, Hamilton and Fennville are the first public districts to get going, along with Black River Public School, South Olive Christian school, and Corpus Christi Catholic school. Thursday sees bells ring in Holland and West Ottawa public schools, along with Eagle Crest and Vanderbilt charter academies.
Other students have to wait until next week to get into classrooms, with Saugatuck Public Schools and Calvary Schools of Holland starting next Tuesday, and Zeeland Public Schools finishing up the opening round next Wednesday.
As for the institutions of higher education: Hope College opens its dorms for new students on Thursday, with classes to begin next Monday; Grand Valley State has its move-in beginning on Wednesday, with classes also beginning next Monday; and Grand Rapids Community College’s first classes in its Holland campus at The Shops at Westshore also starts on Monday.
