PARK TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Sept. 13, 2025) – A 23-year-old Holland man was hospitalized after crashing a boat onto the South Pier at the mouth of the Holland Channel on Friday night.
No names were disclosed by Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Tyler VanDoesselaar following the incident that occurred just before 10 PM. Holland State Park staffers reported that a 17-foot vessel ran onto the top of the pier, causing its pilot to be thrown overboard. He suffered an apparent head injury and was flown to Corewell-Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids via Aeromed for treatment. His condition was not immediately revealed. A 22-year-old Holland woman, who was a passenger in the boat, suffered bumps and bruises that was treated at the scene.
No details as to what caused the incident were disclosed as it remains under investigation.
