HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Oct. 3, 2025) – Having fun while highlighting fire safety is spotlighted in downtown Holland on Friday evening.
The 43rd annual Fire Truck Parade begins at 7 PM from the corner of East 8th Street and Columbia Avenue, as a number of firefighting and first-responder apparatus, from various local departments and agencies, will make their way westbound to the Heeringa Holland Civic Center Place, where they will be an open house through 9 PM, with demonstration, giveaways and more.
Amidst the festivities is the message of fire safety awareness for residents and businesses, according to Holland Fire Marshal Bret Groendyke.
The parade kicks off Fire Prevention Week locally, and the national theme for this year is “Charge Into Fire Safety,” raising awareness of handling lithium-ion batteries in the home and business. This awareness campaign is timed to commemorate the anniversary of the Great Chicago Fire of October 8-9, 1871, with a similar conflagration occurring in Holland.
