HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Nov. 12, 2025) – The two newest members of the Holland City Council will be wading into municipal matters during this first week “on the job.”
At-Ward Council Member Abby Klomparens and Third Ward Councilman Tim Marroquin, who won election to the governing panel eight days ago, were sworn into office on Monday. They should be on hand for the biweekly study session on Wednesday evening.
Officials with Macatawa Area Express will update Council on matters, with a possible focus on service changes made during 2025. The regional mass transit entity changed its weekday schedule to run from 5 AM through 7 PM, suspended all weekend service, consolidated its fixed system from eight routes to six, along with more cross-town routes, and launched a Token Transit mobile fare payment app.
In addition, council members will get the latest on the operations of the Heeringa Holland Civic Center Place. evaluating how well Sports Facilities Management is handling these responsibilities, in conjunction with Creative Dining Services. City Manager Keith Van Beek has been keeping an eye on things since the new setup was put into place in the middle of last year.
The Holland City Council’s 6 PM study session is in the second floor Training Room of Holland City Hall (270 S. River Ave.).
