HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Dec. 2, 2025) – Today is Giving Tuesday, the charitable follow up to Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
The event, launched in 2012, asks people to give money, time or support to any number of causes, communities and non-profit organizations, and each year, millions take part through donations and volunteerism.
A long-time staple of the holiday season are the Salvation Army Red Kettles outside of stores and retailers. While contributions have slipped nationally, as more and more shoppers are either doing business online, or using cards in a growing cash-less society, the bell ringers are drumming up more support locally, according to Salvation Army of Holland Co-Pastor Captain Matt Winters.
The local Salvation Army is looking to raise at least $65,000 this holiday season.
