HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Dec. 10, 2025) – A 67-year-old Holland man lost his life when he was hit by a motor vehicle near Evergreen Commons on Tuesday night.
According to Public Safety Captain of Administrative Services Bob Buursma, Daniel Woods was riding his two-wheeler northbound on State Street and 22nd Street around 7:20 PM when he struck a residential trash bin near the curb. The collision caused him to fall off of the bike and onto the roadway, and while trying to get back to his feet, he was hit by a northbound sedan. Despite life-saving efforts at the scene by first responders, Mr. Woods succumbed to his injuries at Holland Hospital.
The sedan driver, a 34-year-old Holland man who wasn’t hurt, didn’t appear to be impaired, according to Public Safety officers, and witnesses state that the vehicle wasn’t speeding prior to the incident, which remains under investigation.
