SAUGATUCK, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Feb. 23, 2026) – It appears that the Saugatuck City Council should have a pretty routine business meeting ahead on Monday evening.
The only new piece of business on the agenda is to switch, on a temporary basis, the polling location from City Hall to the Saugatuck Woman’s Club for this year’s elections. This is due to scheduled second-floor renovation work, which includes repairs and improvements to the building’s elevator system, as well as larger-than-expected voter turnout for the August 4th Primary and November 3rd General elections. The Woman’s Club site worked out well for last November’s Municipal Election, according to city officials.
Among annual reports presented to the governing panel is one from the Allegan County Sheriff’s Office. It has been seven years since the city opted out of a two-decade-long agreement for police services with neighboring Douglas and contracted with Sheriff Frank Baker to have four assigned deputies on surveillance duty, at an annual cost savings of round $220,000.
The 6:30 PM Saugatuck City Council business session is in the second-floor meeting room of Saugatuck City Hall (102 Butler St.). An online link to the agenda and supporting documents is here.
