LANSING, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Mar. 5, 2026) – A slew of gubernatorial appointments came out of Gretchen Whitmer’s office on Wednesday, with many going to those from the Lakeshore.
Among those chosen by the Lansing Democrat for positions are Ryan Irvin of Okemos and Kevin Polston of Grand Haven to the Grand Valley State University Board of Trustees, although they won’t be seated until January 1st for their eight-year terms at their alma mater. Irvin co-founded the Change Media Group, while Polston is the superintendent of Kentwood Public Schools.
Timothy Hoffman of Douglas, a retired executive director of regulatory affairs for Consumers Energy, was reappointed to a five-year term on the state Finance Authority Board of Directors, effectives October 1st.
Gun Lake Casino’s senior vice president and general manager, Brian Decorah of Byron Center, was tabbed to fill a vacancy on the Michigan Travel Commission.
Laura Mammen of Hudsonville, an early childhood attachment supervisor with Blodgett-St. John’s in Grand Rapids, was reappointed to the state Board of Conseling.
Dr. Olivia Marineau of Saugatuck, who owns her own eye care practice, will fill a vacancy on the Michigan Board of Optometry.
All of these gubernatorial appointments are subject to “the advice and consent” of the state Senate.
