ZEELAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Mar. 16, 2026) – There are plenty of things for the Zeeland City Council to address during its biweekly business meeting on Monday night.
Among the items on the agenda is a recommendation for the governing panel to adopt a 2026 Strategic Action Plan which “depicts our commitments and goals needed to reach our ‘Feel the Zeel’ vision,” according to City Manager Tim Klunder in a memorandum attached to the meeting packet. Mayor Rick Van Dorp feels that there are some things to keep in mind looking forward.
Council is also expected to approve a five-year parks and recreation master plan, to replace the current document that expires this year. It’s necessary in order to remain eligible for several state Department of Natural Resources grant programs.
Other action items include: Several involving the municipal clean water plant; awarding contracts for milling and resurfacing local streets, for downtown plantings, holiday decor, and other maintenance in that district, and for lawn maintenance, including a new lawn mower; and to accept the alcohol license report showing that all current liquor retailers by the glass and by the bottle have been following state and local guidelines.
A 6 PM study session is before the 7 PM business meeting of the Zeeland City Council, both in Chambers at Zeeland City Hall (21 S. Elm St.). An online link to the agenda and supporting documents is here.
