SAUGATUCK, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Apr. 11, 2026) – The bonds between a Lakeshore community and a Holland-based non-profit appear to be strengthening.
During Monday’s biweekly business meeting, the Saugatuck City Council is expected to approve a $26,000 contract with ODC Network to conduct a city-wide invasive species survey and management recommendations project. Intended to establish a data-driven foundation for future invasive special control, habitat restoration, and long-term ecological stewardship, ODC’s plans of a comprehensive survey, from May through September, covering right-of-ways, parks and natural areas, with a detailed report of mapping, key findings and ranked priorities, was chosen from among four entities that submitted proposals.
City Manager Ryan Cummins said that ODC has extensive experience with invasive species management in Michigan, citing two current projects in his community already in place for this summer, and Maddie Tunison with the non-profit believes more joint efforts with other entities are on the way.
The Saugatuck City Council’s 6:30 PM Monday session is in the second floor meeting room of City Hall (102 Butler St.). An online link to the agenda and supporting documents is here.
