CFHZ grants to boost services for seniors, patients and youth. The Community Foundation of the Holland/Zeeland Area has awarded its first round of competitive grants for 2021. CFHZ disbursed $100,000 among five organizations, with the aim of enhancing their ability to meet the needs of area seniors, students, patients, and youth.
Hope grad opens coffee bar in Haworth Hotel after $7.5M makeover. Hope grad Mark Dykema found the perfect location for his latest Biggby Coffee in the Haworth Hotel after a $7.5 million facelift by an international designer gave the interior a modern European look. Dykema sees the location, on the Hope College campus — a beautiful, “good-vibes only” coffee shop — as a great fit.
Holland Museum asks for help to complete restoration of the Pere Marquette Red Caboose. The paint has chipped and the metal has rusted on the Pere Marquette Red Caboose, last renovated in 1998. Now, the Holland Museum is asking the community for financial support to renovate the historic train car through a GoFundMe fundraiser.
$50,000 grant will help CAH expand perishable food rescue efforts. A $50,000 grant will allow Community Action House and its partner, Harvest Stand Ministries, to expand their collaboration on perishable food rescue. The program aims to increase healthy food options for 10,000 individuals facing food insecurity in the Holland/Zeeland area.
‘Hopping Through History’ makes sense of census, offers tips on genealogical research. Why is the census important? Find out by joining “Hopping Through History — Making Sense of the Census.” The virtual Herrick District Library program also will examine how participants can use census data in researching their family history.
