GRCC offers incentive for fall students to get the COVID-19 vaccine. Grand Rapids Community College fall semester students who have already received the vaccine or who are fully vaccinated by Nov. 15 will receive a $200 credit on their RaiderCard accounts. GRCC also plans on-campus vaccination clinics and is requiring face coverings when indoors on campus.
Holland Hospital partners with U-M Health to fight strokes along the Lakeshore. Holland Hospital, in partnership with Metro Health — University of Michigan Health, will soon offer a life-saving procedure to treat acute strokes. A team from both medical facilities has been training for a year to perform neurothrombectomy, which involves the surgical removal of a blood clot from a blood vessel.
Mariachi celebration coming to Kollen Park. Symphony orchestras originated in Europe and typically play European music, but the Holland Symphony Orchestra and others are trying to step outside that box and attract new audiences.
Grab a $1 coffee or treat as reimagined Momentum Café opens. The reopened Momentum Café in Grand Haven has a larger menu and a new manager. Joe Carmolli brings a wealth of experience in foodservice and education to the reimagined café, and is providing expanded training for volunteers.
Student’s survey reveals how young people feel about COVID-19 vaccine. Ava Devanney conducted a survey of a dozen friends to get an idea about how young people feel about the COVID-19 vaccine. The 12-year-old discovered how much parents influence those perspectives.
Lakeshore communities welcome the benefits social districts offer businesses. Social districts allow businesses to sell alcoholic beverages that can be consumed in publicly owned common areas. Proponents say this makes the wait more bearable for restaurant patrons who are up to an hour away from being seated, and it benefits nearby shops.
