HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Three people suffered non-life-threatening injuries in a two-vehicle crash in Grand Haven Township Thursday afternoon, according to Ottawa County Sgt. Ryan DeVries.
Deputies investigating the crash learned a 60-year-old Spring Lake man was driving a Ford SUV south on US 31.
When he stopped at the intersection with Lake Michigan Drive, a 70-year-old Spring Lake man driving a Nissan SUV behind failed to stop, rear ending the Ford.
The force of the crash sent the Nissan flying into a utility pole, snapping the pole and sending live wires into the intersection and the parking lot of a gas station at that corner.
The Nissan’s driver was extricated by firefighters. He and the occupants of the Ford went by ambulance to a nearby hospital for treatment. The intersection was shut down while a Consumers Energy crew repair the utility pole and restored service to the area.
