HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Holland Department of Public Safety Fire Services’ annual fire truck parade is at 7 p.m. today.
The annual parade kicks off a month of fire safety awareness. Holland Fire Marshal Bret Groendyke told WHTC smoking is one of the most common causes of fires.
He also said firefighters are delighted to see area residents along the fire truck parade route, which runs from Columbia Avenue on Eighth Street to Maple Avenue. He encouraged kids who have fire-safety gear to wear it to the parade.
Because of the pandemic, this year’s event is just the parade, not the usual fire-safety affair at the Heeringa Holland Civic Center Place.
Public safety officials encourage adults to make sure youngsters stay on the curb, and not get into the parade traffic.
