Kurt Steven Bauer, age 65, of Holland, MI passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2022.
Kurt was born on March 15, 1957, to Walter and Janet Bauer in Mount Clemens, MI. He passed peacefully and was surrounded by his beloved family members in the days leading up to his death. He was preceded in death by his father, Walter, his mother, Janet, and his brothers Mike and Jeff.
Kurt grew up in New Baltimore, MI, and graduated from Michigan State University with his undergraduate business degree in 1980. He went on to graduate cum laude from Wayne State University with his Juris Doctor in 1997. He married his cherished wife, Carleen, in 1992. His daughter Audrey was born in 1994, and his daughter Dana was born in 1996. He reveled in his role as a husband and father, and never missed a soccer game, graduation, or school play.
He was known by many for his kindness, sense of humor, calm demeanor, humility, and optimism. He was his family’s biggest cheerleader, willing to put aside his own work to lend them a hand whenever needed. Kurt was highly involved in his local community and served as the President of the Ottawa County Bar Association, President of the Windstream Homeowners’ Association, Church Elder at First Presbyterian Church, and Board Member for Lakeshore Habitat for Humanity, among others, at various points in time in the years leading up to his passing. He enjoyed playing pickup basketball, watching Michigan State basketball and history documentaries, reading, and spending time with his wife and daughters.
Kurt was truly a special individual who left a lasting impact on those who knew him. He will never be forgotten and will be sorely, sorely missed.
