Donald T. De Jong, 64, of Zeeland, lost his battle with cancer and passed away peacefully from here to his heavenly home on Tuesday, September 13, 2022.
Don, better known as “Gonzo”, drove trucks over the road for 24 years for a couple of West Michigan companies. He enjoyed volunteering at Holland Hospital and the Gateway Mission. Don was very involved with his church family at First Assembly of God. Since retiring, Don enjoyed traveling, especially his trip to Hawaii. He is survived by his brother Jack and Sybille De Jong, brother-in-law Ken Overzet, nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents: Theodore and Jean (Hop) De Jong, his sister Sharon Overzet, and his sister-in-law Stefani De Jong.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, September 17, 2022, at First Assembly of God, 1331 E. 16th Street, Holland MI 49423.
Visitation will be 4-6 pm, Friday, at the Yntema Funeral home, 251 S. State Street, Zeeland MI 49464. Interment will be in Beaverdam Cemetery. Memorial contributions to West Michigan Adult and Teen Challenge.
