LANSING, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Nov. 10, 2022) – The Michigan State Police ranks will be increasing on Thursday.
In a morning ceremony at the Lansing Center, Colonel Joe Gasper will be swearing in 59 recruits who will be graduating from the 142nd Trooper Recruit School. They began their training on June 26th, and were the first to go through a restructured program that included 20 weeks at the department’s residential academy and another 15 in-service training days scheduled throughout their first two years on the force. This is a change from recent years when trooper recruit schools could run as long as a half a year, depending on when holidays fell.
Among those that will be joining the state police is Nicholas Agy of Allegan, who will be initially assigned to the Paw Paw Post.
Governor Gretchen Whitmer will be the keynote speaker at the swearing-in ceremony.
