WEST OLIVE MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Apr. 12, 2023) –The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office is warning the public about suspects targeting valuables in motor vehicles in local parks. Suspects then take items, such as checks or credit credit cards along with victim’s ID’s that were stolen and obtain items(from stores) or cash(from banks/Credit Unions) outside the area the theft originally took place.
On Monday, the Sheriff’s office responded to the Grand Ravines park, located at 9920 42nd Ave, where several cars had their windows smashed and purses and wallets were stolen. This occurred during the afternoon hours while people were taking walks in the park. The Sheriff’s office also took additional larceny from motor vehicles complaints later that evening and into the early morning hours of Tuesday in the Georgetown Township area.
The Sheriff’s Office would like to remind everyone to please keep valuables out of site in their vehicle or locked in the trunk if at all possible. Please contact the Sheriff’s Office with any suspicious behavior in or around the parks.
