HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, May 7, 2023) – Visitors and residents had better take a good look at the south face of Window on the Waterfront Park this week, for it will change permanently once the Tulip Time Festival ends.
Crews are already starting to plow out a planned extension of College Avenue past East 6th Street, as the park will be altered to accommodate the construction of a permanent outdoor skating rink and other amenities near that junction. While local philanthropist Frank Kraai’s million-dollar donation provided the seed money for the structure, other cash needed for the overall project will come, in part, through a crowdfunding effort, according to Holland City Manager Keith Van Beek.
The renovation of not only the park, but for 6th Street from Columbia to River avenues, begins in earnes on May 15th. On online link for contributing to the skating rink fundraising effort is here.
