HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Oct. 21, 2023) – A 19-year-old Holland man is apparently recovering from an early Saturday morning stabbing in a unit at a south side mobile home park, with a teenager in custody as a result.
According to Department of Public Safety Captain of Administrative Services Bob Buursma, officers were called to the Lincoln Estates complex off of Lincoln Avenue near US-31 around 12:30 AM. Just before first responders arrived at the scene, Holland Hospital ER staffers reported that a man had just been admitted for treatment of a stab wound.
The unnamed victim had apparently been in an altercation with the suspect, who grabbed a knife and administered the wound before fleeing, while the man was taken to the hospital in a private vehicle. With the help of Ottawa County Sheriff’s deputies, the suspect was located at a home on Holland’s North Side, where he was arrested without further incident, and was taken to the Ottawa County Juvenile Detention Center.
Buursma gave no further information as to the condition of the victim, or of the name of the suspect, whose case will be working through the county’s juvenile justice system, as the matter remains under investigation.
