LANSING, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Feb. 8, 2024) – What would you do if you won a third share of a $4.1 million lottery pot?
That’s what three persons in an unnamed Ottawa County lottery club have to decide after they collected the grand prize this week in the Michigan Lottery’s 500X Money Maker Instant Game. The winners, who chose to remain anonymous, opted for the lump sum payment instead of the six million-dollar award that would have been paid in annual installments, telling state lottery officials that they plan to pay off existing mortgages and save the remainder of their winnings.
“Our lottery club has been playing together for quite a while and we always play scratch-off games. I scratched off the ticket late one night, and when I saw the prize amount of $6 million, I had to look the ticket over several times to make sure I was seeing it right. It’s still hard to believe that we really won. I don’t think it’s going to hit us until we see the new balance in our bank accounts!” – A winning member of the lottery club
Club members purchased the winning $50 scratch-off ticket at the Down the Hatch Party Store off of Ottawa Beach Road on Holland’s North Side. That retailer will receive a cash bonus for selling that ticket.
