LANSING, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Feb. 20, 2024) – A long-time volunteer advocate for addressing childhood hunger in West Michigan will remain on a statewide panel that is involved in community service.
Bridget Clark Whitney, president and founding CEO of Kids’ Food Basket, was reappointed last week by Governor Whitmer to the Michigan Community Service Commission for a term through October 1st of 2026. Her non-profit has been delivering evening meals to food-insecure children throughout the region for 22 years.
Also reappointed to the panel was Kathleen Cain-Babbitt of Plainwell, the president emeritus and current vice president of the South-Central Michigan AFL-CIO area labor council. through October 1st of 2025.
The Michigan Community Service Commission develops a three-year service plan, oversees and submits state applications to AmeriCorps and other public/private funding sources, sets policies and procedures for federal funds use, and more. Gubernatorial appointments to this panel are not subject to state Senate approval.
