HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Apr. 16, 2024) – A man has been arraigned on various charges stemming from an overnight home invasion and sexual assault at a home near Holland Hospital.
According to Department of Public Safety Captain of Administrative Services Bob Buursma, officers were called to the residence in the area of West 24th Street and Michigan Avenue around 2:20 AM on Tuesday. One officer shined a light inside of the darkened house and spotted the suspect, who then tried to exit on the other side, only to be met by another officer. After a brief foot chase, the suspect was taken into custody.
The victim told detectives that the suspect, who was not known to her, had broken in and started to assault her. She was able to break free and call 911.
The suspect, Dominique Asher Hawkins, was arraigned later on Tuesday in Holland District Court on counts of second degree criminal sexual conduct, first degree home invasion, and of resisting and obstructing and officer. He remains in the Ottawa County Jail on $250,000 bond. No date for a preliminary hearing was initially disclosed.
