HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, June 6, 2024) – A hurdle that LG Energy Solutions had to clear in order to complete a nearly $182 million investment into its battery manufacturing plant in Holland was done so on Wednesday night.
On an unanimous 7-0 vote, with two members absent, the Holland City Council approved a 12-year tax abatement to help facilitate a planned $81.9 million renovation of the 240,000-square foot facility off of East 48th Street. This project is aimed towards providing lithium-ion batteries for Toyota’s electric vehicle fleet, and the renovation should help keep just over a thousand employees at the facility, while not increasing current infrastructure demands.
LG Chem officials are looking towards a June 2025 completion of this project.
