SAUGATUCK, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Oct. 16, 2024) – The vacancy on the Saugatuck City Council should be filled on Thursday evening.
In a special meeting, council members will hear from six applicants for the seat that Logan White had to step away from last month due to a move into a new home in Holland. Joe Clark, Dan Fox, Mark Klunger, Joe Leonatti, Chris Peterson and Sherry Tedaldi will present their best arguments as to why they should complete White’s term for the next 13 months. Peterson is a former Mayor who opted not to run for reelection three years ago, while Fox is on the Saugatuck Township Fire District Board, Clark is on the city’s Planning Commission, Klunger is on the Kalamazoo Lake Harbor Authority, and both Leonatti and Tedaldi have no past governmental experience.
Current Council Member Russ Gardner echoed sentiments that his colleagues may share when the application process was spelled out three weeks ago.
Mayor Lauren Stanton, along with Helen Baldwin, Scott Dean and Greg Muncey, are all running for reelection on November 5th, with Leonatti, Peterson and Tedaldi challenging for those seats.
The 5 PM Saugatuck City Council special session will be in the second floor meeting room of Saugatuck City Hall (102 Butler St.). An online link to the meeting agenda and documents on the council hopefuls is here.
