OLIVE TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Nov. 18, 2024) – It will be an emotional day on many levels for many people next Tuesday morning at the Fillmore Street Complex.
Ottawa County’s 22nd annual Adoption Day Celebration, at 9 AM on November 26th, will be held at a new venue – the Family Justice Center, which opened earlier this year. It will also be the last for Probate Court Judge Mark Feyen, who is retiring at year’s end. He will be joined by fellow 20th Circuit Court judges Jon Van Allsburg, Kent Engle and Paul Kraus, as well as Ottawa County Clerk Justin Roebuck.
This is one of more than 30 courts across Michigan celebrating placing children in need of a permanent home with loving adoptive parents.
According to state officials, more than 1,600 children were adopted in fiscal 2023, but at any given time, approximately 10,000 youths are in Michigan’s foster care system, with nearly 250 awaiting adoption.
