WASHINGTON (WHTC-AM/FM, Nov. 21, 2024) – Any questions about Pete Hoekstra’s political future may have been answered on Wednesday.
The Trump Transition Team announced that the former eight-term US House Representative from Holland will be nominated to become the new US Ambassador to Canada when Mr. Trump assumes the Presidency on January 20th. Hoekstra, who served the first Trump Administration as the US Ambassador to the Netherlands, has been the Michigan GOP Chairman since January, assuming the reins after Kristina Karamo was ousted. He has also run twice for statewide office, falling to eventual Governor Rick Snyder in the 2010 GOP Primary, and losing in the 2012 US Senate race to incumbent Democrat Debbie Stabenow.
“In my Second Term, Pete will help me once again put AMERICA FIRST. He did an outstanding job as United States Ambassador to the Netherlands during our first four years, and I am confident that he will continue to represent our Country well in this new role. Thank you, Pete!” – statement by President-Elect Trump from Trump/Vance Transition
Hoekstra’s appointment is dependent on US Senate approval, as that chamber will flip to Republican control after the first of the year.
