HUDSONVILLE, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Nov. 21, 2024) – Those wishing to grab a sub sandwich off of the Hudsonville exit on I-196 and go won’t be able to do that for a little while after a late Thursday afternoon crash involving a semi.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Nicholas Knott, the unidentified driver had parked the truck outside of a convenience store/fueling station off of 32nd Avenue and Corporate Grove Drive, just south of the freeway, around 4:45 PM. As he went inside, it appeared that the parking brake was not properly set, and the rig began to roll down a slope in the lot, struck a parked vehicle, and then veered into the Subway sandwich shop building that was northeast of the convenience store.
Nobody was hurt, but the retail establishment suffered structural damage and was forced to close. No word on the extent of damage and on any timeline as to when the retailer can return to business. The incident remains under investigation.
