UNDATED (WHTC-AM/FM, Dec. 23, 2024) – Another sign that a New Year is approaching? Lists of most popular baby names are starting to emerge from medical facilities that handle births.
Over the weekend, both Holland Hospital and Corewell Health disclosed the top choices for monikers placed by new moms and dads in 2024.
Holland Hospital said that Emma was the most popular names for girls, followed by Amelia, Sadie and Mia. They displaced the 2023 favorites Olivia, Nora and Elanor. As for boys, Santiago topped the list, followed by Liam, Ezra and August. Last year, those choices were Theodore, Levi and Oliver.
As for Corewell Health, Oliver and Charlotte were the most popular. It’s the second straight year that Charlotte was tops among girls, while Oliver has kept its even-year favorite among boys, having headed the list in 2020 and 2022. Rounding out the top five for Corewell: Emma, Nora, Amelia and Ava for girls; Theodore, Henry, Jack and Liam for boys.
A recent poll by BabyCenter has Olivia and Noah tops nationally.
As for volume, Corewell Health delivered around eight thousand babies at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, which was the most of any hospital in Michigan, while Holland Hospital had over 12 hundred newborns arriving.
