GRAND HAVEN, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Jan. 23, 2025) – A 25-year-old man faces life in prison following a Thursday conviction of sexual assault and home invasion charges stemming from an incident at a Holland residence this past April.
After three days of testimony and deliberation, a 20th Circuit Court jury found Dominique Asher Hawkins guilty of first-degree Criminal Sexual Conduct, first-degree Home Invasion, and Resisting an Obstructing an officer. He was arrested during the overnight hours on April 16th in the vicinity of West 24th Street and Michigan Avenue, after a woman called saying that she heard someone inside her home. Hawkins had purportedly assaulted her before Public Safety officers arrived, and following a short pursuit, he was apprehended.
Hawkins, who had been previously accused in a string of residential burglaries on Holland’s North Side five and a half years ago, remains in the Ottawa County Jail on $250,000 bond. He is slated for sentencing by Judge Karen Miedema on March 24th.
