TOLEDO, OH (WHTC-AM/FM, Feb. 16, 2025) – A 45-year-old Grand Haven woman, facing charges in the death of her husband in Holland, is awaiting extradition to the Lakeshore after skipping bond and fleeing to the Toledo area.
Grand Rapids television station WOOD is reporting that Vinnice Leon is currently in the Lucas County Corrections Center after a Thursday arrest. She failed to appear for a hearing on a count of a moving violation causing death, stemming from an incident last March in which she drove off from a parking lot near East 16th Street and Waverly Road with her husband Robert on the hood, following an argument. Mr. Leon hit his head on the pavement after being thrown the vehicle, and subsequently died from his injuries at Corewell-Zeeland Hospital.
Vinnice Leon was formally charged two months later and had been free on a personal recognizance bond when she left the area. A bench warrant was issued, and Holland Department of Public Safety Police Services detectives, aware of where she could have went, worked with US Marshals to secure her arrest.
Additional charges are pending.
