HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Nov. 26, 2025) – One of this nation’s unique annual holidays is set for Thursday.
Thanksgiving was initially set aside in the midst of the War Between the States by President Abraham Lincoln in 1863, and it commemorates the first such gratitude held in 1621 by the pilgrims in Plymouth, Massachusetts. One group that holds this day in special regard is the Society of Mayflower Descendants, made up of those whose lineage can be traced back to that ship which brought those seeking religious freedom to the New World.
Former Holland City Councilman Craig Rich was elected earlier this month to a second three-year term as the Michigan Mayflower Society Governor.
