Richard “Rich” Herbig, age 78, unexpectedly passed away on Sunday, November 30, 2025.
Rich was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather and will be remembered as such by his family. As a leader in his church and community, he will be remembered as a faithful servant, respected teacher and coach, who maintained relationships with former students, athletics, and colleagues.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Leslie Herbig; son, Ryan and Monica Herbig; daughter, Jill and Greg Rubin; grandchildren, Ella Herbig, Eva Herbig, Noah Rubin, Isaiah Rubin, Levi Rubin; sister, Karen Roberts; sister, Nancy Greenwold; sister-in-law, Ruth Fazzari; and extended family.
Visitation with the family is 4:00-7:00 pm on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at Langeland Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 E. 16th St. Holland, MI 49423.
A memorial service will be at 2:00 pm on Friday, December 5, 2025, at Christ Memorial Church, 595 Graafschap Rd. Holland, MI 49423 in the chapel.
