GEORGETOWN TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Apr. 22, 2026) – Prompt response to an industrial fire between Jenison and Hudsonville on Wednesday afternoon apparently limited damage and prevented any injuries.
Crews from four neighboring communities assisted the Georgetown Township Fire Department in bringing a blaze at the Nu-Wool Company complex off of Port Sheldon Street and Chicago Drive under control in about 45 minutes. First responders were dispatched around 2 PM when a machine caught fire, with embers igniting insulation around nearby pipes.
There were no reports of any injuries by employees or responders. It was not immediately determined what sparked the machine into flames, nor was any dollar estimate of damage made. It was the second blaze at that facility in the past 13 months.
