SAUGATUCK, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, May 11, 2026) – The Saugatuck City Council holds its biweekly business meeting on Monday evening.
On the consent agenda is a proposed one-year renewal with the monitoring company Granicus to maintain oversight of the city’s short-term rental compliance regulations. The firm would handle address identification and a 24/7 hotline, at a charge of around $21,000. Granicus has handled such responsibilities for the past three years.
As for new business, the governing panel will be asked to approve a conditional rezoning request, for property in the 500 block of Butler Street. The Wickwood Inn wants to expand its operations, beyond a current bed-and-breakfast establishment, to include hotel and inn accommodations, an accessory restaurant, and space for holding special events. This is the next step in the process to make such rezoning permanent, and would be followed by further consideration of final conditions from the city’s Planning Commission.
In addition, council will be looking at a zoning ordinance amendment to update signage regulations, in order to be aligned with a state Supreme Court ruling that effectively prohibits content-based sign regulations. The amendment would lay out a content-neutral regulatory scheme for signs.
The 6:30 PM Saugatuck City Council business session is in the second floor meeting room of Saugatuck City Hall (102 Butler St.). An online link to the agenda and supporting documents is here.
