Timothy Duane Bosma, age 72, of Coopersville, entered his heavenly home on May 6. He passed peacefully, surrounded by the voices of those he loved most as his family sang his favorite hymn, “By the Sea of Crystal.” In that sacred moment, he slipped from their hands into the presence of his Savior, finally free from all disease and earthly struggle.
Born in Grand Rapids and raised in Gaines Township, Tim lived a life shaped by curiosity, faith, and a steady devotion to serving others. A proud two-time graduate of Calvin University (then Calvin College), he first earned his Bachelor’s degree in History in 1978. On December 19, 1981, he married the former Grace Hoeksema of Grandville, beginning a partnership marked by deep loyalty, quiet strength, and 45 years of unwavering love.
Tim began his career in Christian education, teaching at Valley Christian High School in Bellflower, California, where he poured his energy into shaping young minds. Later, sensing a new calling, he returned to Calvin to earn a second degree in Civil Engineering in 1988. This launched a distinguished 30‑plus‑year career in commercial construction, a field in which he earned the respect of colleagues through his diligence, integrity, and calm, thoughtful leadership. He retired in 2020.
Tim loved his Savior, and that love radiated through the way he lived. He was a man who delighted in history, who found joy in traveling and exploring the United States, and who could always be counted on to lend a hand with a project-especially if it was for his family. Whether standing on the sidelines of a sporting event or cheering from the stands, he was a constant, faithful presence. He took immense pride in his children and grandchildren and was known for never missing a game. A long‑time and active member of Sunrise Ministries Church in Jenison, Tim’s steady, unflappable nature anchored his family and shaped the lives of those around him. His legacy of hard work, devotion, and faith will be deeply and tenderly missed.
Tim is survived by his wife of 45 years, Grace; his son, Adam Bosma (Sarah) of Annapolis, Maryland; his daughter, Aubrey Rodrigo (Kevin) of Holland; his daughter, Alayna Prest (Jonathan) of Zeeland; and his beloved grandchildren, Brooklyn, Scarlett, Blake, Autumn, Kaia, Adrielle, Alexandra, Asher, Cambria, Luka, and Annika. He is also survived by his siblings, Sue Vander Wel (Bill), Janet Purdy, and Allen Bosma (Sandy); and his siblings‑in‑law, Joyce Vander Klok (Bernie), James Hoeksema (Cathy), Judy Funk (Craig), and Shirley Bosma. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gelmer and Gertrude Bosma; his brother, John Bosma; his brother‑in‑law, James Purdy; and his parents-in-law, Hendrik and Rachelina Hoeksema.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, May 18, 2026, at Sunrise Ministries, 7754 28th Ave., Jenison, with Rev. Dennis Moles and Rev. Bill VanderWerp officiating. Burial will take place at Floral View Memorial Gardens. Visitation is scheduled for 4:00-6:00 pm on Sunday, May 17, at Yntema Funeral Home, 251 S State St., Zeeland. Memorial contributions may be made to the Christian Reformed Conference Grounds.
