Thomas Sikavitsas, born 1954 in Greece, passed away May 13. 2026. His parents, Pashalis and Virginia preceded him in death. His wife, Sally Gilchrest Sikavitsas survives him as well as his sons, Travis, Dustin (wife, Michelle and grandson, Max), Skyler, Chase (wife, Samantha). Sister, Athina Sikavitsas Johnson, as well as several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
At 9 years old, his family immigrated to Chicago. Thomas loved soccer and played through high school and college. He graduated from Tri-State College in 1979 with a BA in social studies and in 1982 with a BS in civil engineering. He was hired by Consumer Energy as an engineer to work in nuclear power plants. He worked for the company for 30 years. His love for soccer led him to help develop the Charlevoix soccer club, becoming their President and coach of their high school club team. He also coached and managed his own boys in baseball and hockey. He was an avid golfer and skier. He believed in volunteering in his community. His last 15 years were spent in a specialized home for dementia, where he was treated with kindness and respect. The family is grateful to have been so blessed.
A celebration of life will be held from 3:00 pm to 5:00, Saturday, June 27th at the Dykstra Funeral Home-Mulder Chapel, 188 West 32nd Street.
