GEORGETOWN TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, May 22, 2026) โ A 32-year-old motorcyclist lost his life after colliding with a SUV north of Jenison on Friday morning.
The name of the biker wasn’t immediately disclosed by Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Jon Smoes, who was among the first responders dispatched to Cottonwood Drive at Summerset Drive, north of Baldwin Street, at 8:50 AM. The motorcyclist was attempting to turn left from the side street when he went into the path of the northbound SUV, and although he was helmeted, he succumbed at the scene.
Two of the three persons from Grand Rapids in the SUV โ a 21-year-old man behind the wheel and a 21-year-old female passenger โ sustained minor injuries that required hospitalization at an undisclosed medical facility. The other person, a 23-year-old man, was not hurt.
It took nearly four hours before Cottonwood Drive reopened to traffic, as the incident remains under investigation.
