Jan Settlemyre, age 75 of Zeeland passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, June 10, 2026.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Connie; his children, Jeff Settlemyre, Jenny (Bryan) Van Sprange, Ryan (Stacey) Settlemyre, Aaron (Courtney) Settlemyre, Caleb (Norbelis) Settlemyre, Ashley (Jeremy) Klein, Jake (Whitney) Settlemyre, and Chelsea (Alex) Justice; his grandchildren, Cody (Savannah), Joshua, Brandon (Krissa), Whitney (Marco), Carter (Katie), Madison (Collin), Maxton, Molly, Jamison, Maxwell, Autumn, Summer, Nora, Luca, and Makayla; and his great-grandchildren, Jaicee, Ryleigh, Scottie, and another great-grandchild on the way. He is also survived by several brothers and sisters.
Besides his Lord and Savior, Jan loved his wife and family more than anything else. He had a special gift for bringing people together and filled every room with joy, laughter, and kindness. Whether he was playing a game, teaching someone a new skill, or simply spending time with family and friends, Jan made every moment memorable. One of his greatest passions was pickleball, and he loved both playing and teaching the game to anyone willing to learn. He was the best person to play games with, and those who knew him cherished the time they spent by his side.
Jan also enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and music. Throughout his varied career, he worked as a barber for 14 years, managed Lippert Furniture for several years, and later retired from Johnson Controls. Above all, Jan will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his love for his family, and the joy he brought to everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Visitation will be 4-6 pm Sunday, June 14, 2026, at Yntema Funeral Home, 251 South State Street, Zeeland. The funeral service to honor the life of Jan will be held at 11 am Monday, June 15, 2026, at Lighthouse Community Church, 7624 Lake Michigan Drive, Allendale. Following the luncheon, graveside service will be held in Zeeland Cemetery, 220 E Lincoln Ave, Zeeland.
