The family of Jack Vincent Bobeng is saddened to announce his passing on 9 June 2026 in Holland, MI. Jack was born in Chicago in 1928 to Jacob and Rosamond Bobeng and spent much of his life in the Chicago area.
Jack met his wife-to-be, Barbara Brehm, when they were freshmen at York High School in Elmhurt, IL. They married in 1950 just a few months before Jack left for service in the Army, stationed in Germany. Being in the Army made a lasting impression on Jack, and his service was something he was always proud of having accomplished.
Returning home, Jack first worked at the Chicago Tribune and then in sales for a photo products company. His job moved them to Convent Station, NJ, and then to Atlanta, GA, where they spent many happy retirement years.
Jack and Barbara were active members of Mt. Vernon Presbyterian Church of Sandy Springs, GA, for over thirty years. Jack served as head usher for much of that time. Their closest friends were members of the church.
Jack’s hobbies included stamp collecting from childhood, golfing, running, coin collecting, square dancing, playing drums and listening to music, reading, tailgating at Atlanta Falcon’s football games, and loving on several family dogs.
Jack was married to Barbara for sixty-nine years and looked forward to the time they would be reunited, as she passed in 2019. Jack is survived by his daughters Katherine Hankins (Terry) and Barbara Moreau (William), his son Jack Bobeng (Claudia), seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life service is planned for a later date in Atlanta. Memorials can be made to Shriners International or Wounded Warriors.
