SAUGATUCK, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Jun. 22, 2026) – Apparently, Ryan Cummins is doing a fine job overseeing day-to-day operations in Saugatuck.
After a closed-door evaluation of the City Manager’s duties this past Wednesday, that Lakeshore community’s City Council is prepared to offer him a $3,000, one-time, lump-sum performance bonus, if that measure is approved during Monday night’s biweekly business meeting. All other terms of his current contract will remain intact.
This was the second such sizing up of Cummins’ efforts. He had been the planning and zoning administrator when he was handed the operational reins, on an interim basis, when Ryan Heise resigned in February of 2024, and emerged among three finalists for the full-time position three months later.
Other matters to be decided by the governing panel include approving employee health insurance benefits, as well as renewing the city’s property and liability insurance, both for Fiscal 2027, which begins a week from Wednesday.
The Saugatuck City Council’s 6:30 PM business session is in the second floor meeting room of Saugatuck City Hall (102 Butler St.). An online link to the agenda and supporting documents is here.
