HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Aug. 16, 2026) – The freshest jewel in the crown of Holland Public Schools is formally unveiled this weekend.
A Sunday afternoon (4-6 PM) ribbon-cutting ceremony is slated for Holland Heights Elementary School (856 E. 12th St.), climaxing a two-year, $21.2 million-dollar project in overhauling a structure which was initially built in 1952. Principal Kevin Derr will welcome students for the first day of classes on August 27th to renovating classrooms, a media center, and learning spaces specifically built for a nature-based curriculum.
Holland Heights students were attending classes at the vacant Longfellow School during the renovation project.
