NEW YORK, Sept 5 (Reuters) – President Donald Trump’s MAGA Inc super PAC will spend at least $10 million on the campaign of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton for his U.S. Senate race against Democratic state Representative James Talarico, according to a Federal Election Commission filing on Saturday.
• The filing indicates that MAGA Inc’s spending will include $5 million to run negative ads against Talarico and $5 million to run positive ads for Paxton, a Republican.
• Saturday’s FEC filing is the first from the Trump super PAC for the fall campaign heading into November’s midterm elections.
• Trump told reporters on Friday that he planned to spend between $400 million and $500 million from MAGA Inc’s $1 billion war chest on behalf of Republicans for the midterms.
• Paxton-Talarico is one of a handful of races widely viewed as crucial for determining control of the Senate, where Republicans currently have a 53-47 edge.
