HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Sept. 6, 2026) – Two persons were hospitalized after a boat overturned in Lake Macatawa on Sunday evening.
No names were disclosed by the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office as first responders were dispatched to the waters off of Kollen Park about 5:10 PM. They found the two persons – a 43-year-old Hamilton man who was the pilot, along with a female passenger, on the vessel, which had struck a large wake, apparently at high speed, causing the bow to rise significantly before coming down on its side.
The man was taken to U-M Health West in serious condition, while the woman went to Holland Hospital with minor injuries. The incident remains under investigation.
