ALLENDALE TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Sept. 9, 2026) – It appears to be somewhat of a rough start of the school year at Grand Valley State University.
For the third time since classes began last month, an act of violence has struck at or near the main campus in Allendale. On Tuesday evening, GVSU police had to break up a reported “large fight” involving bats and knives, around 7:15 PM outside of the Holton-Hooker Living Center. According to authorities, one person had a cut on his hand that needed hospital treatment, while another refused to be taken to a medical facility for hand and knee injuries.
Two arrests were made related to persons obstructing police efforts in this matter, and anyone with any further information on this incident is asked to contact GVSU police (616-331-3255) or Ottawa County Silent Observer (877-887-4368).
On August 29th, four persons were arrested for their roles in an assault and burglary at an off-campus apartment, and earlier that day, a Flock surveillance camera operated by GVSU police, located on Lake Michigan Drive, was vandalized, with no suspects reportedly apprehended in that incident.
