With heavy hearts and deep love, we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather, Larry Randall Gentry, who left us on Friday, September 18, 2026, at the age of 81.
Larry was a humble man, truly one of a kind. He marched to the beat of his own drum and had a wonderful way of making people laugh and enjoy life. He had a deep love for horses, riding all around Laketown and up and down the beaches.
Larry was fascinated by mountain-man life, Native American culture, cowboys, Westerns, and, of course, music. He had a love for the very best music, a passion he shared with us and taught us to appreciate. These were the things that brought him joy and made him the unique and unforgettable man we knew and loved.
Larry was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years, Nancy Gentry (Grotenhuis), just 15 months ago. His love for her never faded. He spent countless hours at Gibson Cemetery, sitting, reading, singing and just feeling her presence. His heart was heavy with grief, but his love for her remained steadfast and deep. Also preceding him were his parents, Oral “Red” and Sara Gentry, and parents-in-law, Wallace (Wally) and Lavina Grotenhuis.
He is survived by his loving daughters, Lynette (Scott) Salas and Amanda (Chad) Bouwman both of Holland. His beloved grandchildren, Danae (Ethan) Fryman of Owingsville, KY and Qwinton Bouwman and Kaitlyn Lubbers (fiancée) both of Holland. Larry also leaves behind his first Great Granddaughter, Bennett Elizabeth Lou Fryman, who he adored immensely; his siblings, Dannie (Elaine) Gentry of Ludington, and Mike (Pat) Gentry of Holland; brothers-in-law, Dave (Sharon) Grotenhuis of Holland, Dale (Karen) Grotenhuis of Mears; and sister-in-law, Shelly (Jim) Perry of Fennville.
He will be remembered fondly by many other relatives and friends whose lives he enriched.
Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00pm on Friday, September 25, 2026, at Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 E 16th Street, Holland. Burial at Gibson Cemetery will take place at a later date.
