SOUTH HAVEN, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A huge fire at East Jordan Plastics in South Haven Friday afternoon has destroyed the facility.
The power was shut off to the entire city when South Haven Area Emergency Services responded to the fire, which took four hours and an estimated two-million-gallons of water to put out.
Thick, black smoke could be seen for miles, and was even seen from Chicago.
Firefighters remained at the plastics facility until around 6 a.m. Saturday.
The power was cut due to how close the facility is to a city of South Haven electric utility substation.
The South Haven High School football game was moved to Watervliet Saturday afternoon, and the Rams lost to Constantine, 50-0.
