PARK TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Dec. 25, 2025) – It may not be a Christmas present as such, but access to Holland State Park will increase.
On Tuesday, park officials announced that the main parking lot will be available for off-season use. It had been closed off on December 8th due to what they said was “ongoing illegal activity,” citing “off-roading, malicious destruction of state property, reckless and careless driving, entering and remaining after hours, and vandalism.”
To address these issues, the officials will open up just the front-row and channel parking, but the large lot will remain closed through the winter months. They are asking patrons to report any instances of those activities mentioned earlier, which led to the closure of the main parking lot, to local law enforcement, as on-site park staffing will be limited. Vehicle descriptions, photos, and/or videos would be helpful, and park hours of 8 AM to 10 PM will be enforced.
Holland State Park’s camping season begins on May 1st.
