GEORGETOWN TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Jan. 12, 2026) – A 32-year-old Grand Rapids man arrested for his alleged involvement, in a domestic dispute that turned violent in the predawn hours of last Thursday in Jenison, was arraigned on Monday.
Jacaar Cox was ordered held on $100,000 bond by 58th District Court Judge Judy Mulder in Hudsonville. He had been arrested in the Calder City without incident last Friday on a number of felony charges, including home invasion and a variety of assaultive counts.
Deputies were dispatched to the Riverstone Townhomes complex off of Baldwin Street near Main Avenue shortly before 5:30 AM on January 8, following a 9-1-1 call made by a child living in one of the units. They found a 32-year-old woman resident with minor injuries after the suspect, who had a previous relationship with the victim, forced his way into the residence, armed with a handgun. No mention was made as to whether any shots had been fired.
When authorities arrived, the man fled the scene into a wooded area nearby. Despite the efforts of members of the Sheriff’s Office Critical Response Team, Drone Team, Crisis Negotiation Team, and a canine unit, the suspect apparently eluded them, and was not believed to be any longer in the area.
While the victim was treated at the scene for her ailments, her three children who were also in the residence at the time – aged 14 and nine, as well as seven months – were not harmed.
The investigation into this incident continues, and anyone with any information on this incident is asked to contact the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office or Ottawa County Silent Observer (877-887-4536).
