HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Jan. 21, 2026) – For many students along the Lakeshore, it’s a third straight snow day on Wednesday.
Snow, wind, cold temperatures, and transportation challenges have led a majority of education leaders to call off classes, and combined with the Martin Luther King Jr. legal holiday on Monday, it has made for a five-day weekend, going back to last Friday.
While some district superintendents called off school on Tuesday night, others such as Holland’s Nick Cassidy have to be a little more patient.
This is only the second Snow Day thus far for Holland Public Schools in Academic 2026. Districts can take up to six cancellations before asking the state Department of Education for a waiver on the 120-day classroom requirement.
